Hillard Weise

Mr. Weise is the Chairman of the Board. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Appellate Advocates, a not-for-profit corporation assigned to handle appeals for indigent criminal defendants in the Second Department. For the past two years, Mr. Weise has been the Court Attorney for Supreme Court Justice Steven Barrett in Bronx County. Mr. Weise was the Deputy-Attorney-in-Charge of the Criminal Appeals Bureau of the Legal Aid Society for 10 years.

 

Anne Y. Shields

Ms. Shields is law clerk to the Honorable Leonard D. Wexler of the United States District Court in the Eastern District of New York. She has held that position for the past two years. Ms. Shields was an Associate in the Product Liability Department at the firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom. She was also law clerk to the Honorable George C. Pratt of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Ms. Shields is a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association.

 

Kevin Snover

Mr. Snover is an attorney in private practice in Suffolk County. H previously served as law clerk to the Honorable Leonard D. Wexler of the United States District Court in the Eastern District of New York. Mr. Snover is a member of the New York State Bar Association. He also has served on the Board of Directors of the Berkshire Hathaway Life Insurance Company for the past 4 years.

 

Jeanne Hegler

Ms. Hegler is a partner in the law firm of Brosnan & Hegler in Nassau County, specializing in estate and trust administration and estate and gift tax planning. Ms. Hegler's firm acts as legal guardian in many cases in her jurisdiction. Prior to starting her firm, Ms. Hegler was an associate at the law firms of Shulte, Roth and Zabel and also at Paul, Weiss, Rifkin, Wharton, and Garrison. She was an adjuct professor at St. John's University School of Law from 1986-88. She is a member of the New York State and Nassau County Bar Associations. Ms. Hegler is on the Advisory Board of the State Bank of Long Island and is a Board Member of the Long Island Community Foundation, a philanthropic organization. She has served on both boards for the past three years.

 

Rich Shaeffer

Mr. Schaeffer is employed by the Town of Babylon as Town Supervisor, a position he has held for the past 9 years. For the past year he has also been the Chairman of the Suffolk County Democratic Party. From 1987-1992, Mr. Schaeffer was a member of the Suffolk County Legislature. As a recently admitted attorney, Mr. Schaeffer is also starting a private practice of law in Suffolk County. He is a member of the New York State and Suffolk County Bar Associations.

 

Lisa Schreibersdorf

Lisa Schreibersdorf is the Executive Director of Brooklyn Defender Services. She has spent 18 years representing poor people accused of crimes in Brooklyn. Ms. Schreibersdorf serves as the liaison from her office to the criminal justice system on such matters as drug court planning and domestic violence policy. She is also an active member of the greater criminal defense and public defender community, serving as Vice-President of the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and Chair of the Problem-Solving Courts Committee of the American Council of Chief Defenders.
