Amanda Scioscia, Esq.

Amanda received her Juris Doctor from the City University of New York School of Law. She holds a Bachelor of Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Prior to joining Brooklyn Defender Services in 2006, Amanda worked for the Incarcerated Mothers Law Project of the Women’s Prison Association. She worked with mothers in New York correctional facilities to help them minimize the devastating impact incarceration has on families and children. She also interned for The Neighborhood Defender Services of Harlem and The Legal Aid Society of Queens. Before deciding to pursue a career in public interest law, Amanda worked for several years as an investigative journalist in both the United States and South America. She is an active member of the Brooklyn Criminal Court Gender Fairness Committee, and is a fluent Spanish speaker.
