Derek Brown

Investigator

 

Derek Brown retired after twenty years of police service with the New York City Police Department. After being promoted to Sergeant in 1995, Mr. Brown supervised platoons of police officers to patrol various conditions within the 83rd Precinct. He then was selected to supervised an anti-crime team to combat grand larceny of automobiles within the confines of the precinct.

 

In June of 2000, Mr. Brown was transferred to Brooklyn North Investigations Unit, a unit within the Internal Affairs Bureau. There he investigated misconduct allegations made against uniformed members of the service and civilian members of the N.Y.P.D. The allegations ranged from violations of the rules and procedure to felonies.

 

Mr. Brown is currently a lead investigator for Brooklyn Defender Services. His duties include finding witnesses and generating evidence that is helpful to the clients represented by BDS.
