Elizabeth K. Latimer, Esq.

Trial Attorney

Liz envisions a world that has no use for criminal defense lawyers. But until then, she practices law to fight against government oppression of her clients and community. Raised by a criminal defense lawyer in California, Liz’s commitment to criminal defense work was planted by her father at an early age and helped her develop many of her keen adversarial instincts. She received her formal legal education at the City University of New York School of Law. At CUNY, Gail Gray and Steve Zeidman in the Adult Defenders’ Clinic continued to cultivate Liz’s commitment to defending the public from criminal accusations. She has since been practicing as a staff attorney at Brooklyn Defender Services, striving to provide excellent representation to the people of Brooklyn. Always mindful that change begins within, Liz was instrumental in initiating CUNY’s Contemplate Urban Law Program, an organization designed to support law students’ and practitioners’ compassion towards themselves, their clients, and their adversaries. Under the tutelage of her teacher, Jeanne Anselmo, she continues to bring compassion and mindfulness to the forefront of her work both in the courtroom and outside of it.
