Michael Baum graduated magna cum laude from the New England School of Law in 1978 after graduating cum laud from SUNY College at New Paltz. He started his legal career as a prosecutor in the office of the Kings County District Attorney. After three years, Mr. Baum decided to dedicate himself to the representation of people charged with crimes. For the next 15 years, Mr. Baum was in private practice, trying more than 70 felony cases, including more than 30 homicides.
Mr. Baum is a long time member of the Kings County Criminal Bar Association.
Mr. Baum has been with Brooklyn Defender Services since its inception in 1996. He is also an Adjunct Professor at St. John's University School of Law, teaching trial advocacy.
